First Air to Terminate Codeshare Relationship with Canadian North

First Air has given notice to Canadian North that it will terminate their codeshare relationship, effective May 16, 2017. The notice period is consistent with their codeshare agreement and provides for the orderly transition of bookings.

“The codeshare achieved the efficiencies and schedule improvements that First Air had hoped for. However our customers have told us that they strongly prefer to fly First Air on its own,” said Brock Friesen, President and CEO.

First Air recently announced that all six of its recently purchased ATR42-500s will be in service in early-2017. “This large investment in newer generation all-passenger aircraft brings our ATR fleet to a total of 13, and together with our 737-400s, along with our capacity purchase arrangement with Summit Air for 90 seat jets, and our joint 767 freighter service with Cargojet, First Air now has ample fleet to provide a robust schedule in both the Eastern and Western Arctic,” added Friesen.

Customers holding reservations beyond May 16, 2017, will automatically be re-confirmed on a new flight if their flight schedule has been changed. Customers may also check online at www.firstair.ca or call our Customer Contact Centre at 1-800-267-1247 should they have any further questions regarding the flight schedules.
