About Maintenance Department

First Air’s self-sufficiency in aircraft maintenance is the logical extension of our 72 years of experience operating aircraft in the North. Our diversity of operating aircraft has provided us with the necessary expertise in comprehensive aircraft maintenance, repair and engineering services for in-house purposes, as well as for other airlines. Our large maintenance, overhaul and engineering service facilities in: Ottawa Ontario, and Yellowknife Northwest Territories are complemented by satellite maintenance sub-bases in Iqaluit and Resolute Bay Nunavut, Edmonton Alberta and Winnipeg Manitoba.

We value training, personal development and encourage career advancement within First Air. While preference will be given to individuals in possession of a Transport Canada AME license and/or extensive experience in the field of aircraft mechanics, we also encourage AME apprentices in pursuit of a rewarding career. As an accredited training organization, First Air can help you achieve your goals through our in-house training centre and programs. Our fleet, ranging from turboprop ATR 42, ATR72 to jet B737′s right up to an L-382G Super Hercules will offer you a challenging and diverse opportunity within the aircraft maintenance scope.
